Medical training makes you the most responsible person in the room. It rarely tells you what kind of leader you are becoming.
Leader identity is the picture you carry of yourself in that role. You act on it every day: in what you notice under pressure, in whether you step forward or hold back. Early in a leadership career you often borrow that picture from the people who trained you, or carry one at odds with the clinician you already know how to be.
This short assessment gives you an honest read. Answer the questions below and you’ll get your current leader-identity profile, the research behind it and what to work on next. It takes about five minutes.
Pick one group you currently lead. Rate yourself from 1 (not at all) to 5 (completely).
These are the four validated dimensions of the Identity Leadership Inventory (Steffens et al., 2014).
